Moodabidri: Veteran Indian theatre actor, director and singer B.Jayashree will inaugurate Alva’s Vidyarthisiri -2016 at 9.30 am on November 17, according to Alva’s group Institutional head Mohan Alva. The conference will be presided over by Kumari Ananya,a student of SDM high school, Belthangady.Organizer of children literature V B Kulavarma Kumble from Kasaragod, Mangaluru’s Gopadkar Swaroop Informal education study centre and child prodigy Vaishnavi N .Rao of St.Mary’s International school, Chikkamagalur will be honoured with Alva’s Vidyarthisiri awards on the occasion.
Janaki Sundaresh, Assistant director, Vetinary department will deliver a lecture on ‘youth and challenges ahead’. SDM high school student Poornima R Jain and NMPU college, Aranthodu student Pooja K M will deliver special talks on ‘Disappearing home literature’ and ‘Role of students in Swatch Bharath India’, respectively.
The valedictory address will be delivered by Alva’s pre-university college student Sushmitha K Rai. Many cultural programs will be part of the award ceremony.
Students and teaching faculty from Udupi, Dakshina Kannada and Kasargod districts have been invited to attend the ceremony in large numbers.
B Jayshree’s brief profile
Veteran Indian theatre actor, director and singer B Jayashree is the granddaughter of Gubbi Veeranna, who founded the Gubbi Veeranna Nataka Company.
She was nominated to the Upper house of the Indian Parliament, Rajya Sabha in 2010. She was awarded the Padma Shri, fourth-highest civilian honour by Government of India in 2013.
She has acted in several critically acclaimed films like Nagamandala, Deveeri, Care of Footpath etc. She has also lent her voice to several Kannada movie songs.
She is the recipient of Udaya TV best playback singer award, Rajyotsava award, Alva’ s Nudisiri award, Sandhesh award, Safdhar Shashti and Aryabhata awards.
