Mangalore : In the modern day world where the younger generation is increasingly getting addicted to vices like alcoholism and drugs, there is a crying need to sensitize the youngsters on the ill-effects of such vices. Several programmes are also being held to create an awareness among students in this regard.
Moreover, law also prohibits sale of alcohol and tobacco products in vicinity of schools and colleges. But, as if a contradiction to this, a college in the city has permitted a large hoarding of a Bar ‘n Lounge at its own building
Though this hoarding inside the Padua College compound at Kadri in Mangalore, is facing the Highway, it is clearly visible to the students. It is a tragedy that the college management has permitted this hoarding which may only encourage students to take to liquor.
A senior citizen who noticed this hoarding exclaimed that it seems to be advising students to head straight towards a bar after college hours.
The common man is wondering as to who permitted the putting up of such a misleading hoarding in the college premises.
