Mangaluru: “Before seeking vote from the public, the BJP leaders should reveal their contributions to the whole country,” said former chief minister and senior Congress leader Siddaramaiah on Wednesday, March 6.
He was addressing the gathering at a massive programme ‘Parivarthana Yathre’, organised by the district Congress Committee at Adyar Garden in B.C Road. He said, “setting fire between the two minds of two different religions will not become a contribution to the country. Neither will making false promises with the intention of securing power become a contribution to the country. If people really want welfare programmes, like what the state government did during the last five years, people should support the Congress and the Congress candidates,” he said.
He said, “sitting MP of DK district Nalin Kumar Kateel doesn’t know anything except creating communal hatred between the two religions. Hence, people should take a firm decision to replace him with a Congress candidate”, he said.
While delivering the introductory speech, Dakshina Kannada district in-charge Minister U T Khader asked the Congress workers and leaders to unite together in order to retain power in Mangaluru Lok Sabha constituency. “The Union government has failed to bring any development in the past five years. Hence, we have to retain power in order to set a peaceful society”, he said.
Modi should be booked under corruption charges
Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president Dinesh Gundu Rao alleged that Modi-led union government came to power through its fake promises like employment creation, bringing black money from abroad, providing a proper price for arecanut, rubber and other crops among many others, all of which have been proven fake. “As Modi favours Ambani and Adani, he is a remote-controlled prime minister. Modi should be booked under corruption charges as he has given wrong statistics on Rafale deal as well. Pulwama attack shows the failure of intelligence”, he said.
Congress would construct Ram Mandir
Senior Congress C M Ibrahim said, “The BJP was elected to power only because it raked up the sensitive issue of Ram Mandir. However, its intention was only to secure power, but not to construct the Mandir. The Congress is ready to construct Ram Mandir in Ayodhya by mutual understanding between Hindus and the Muslims,” he said.
MLC and district Congress president Hareesh Kumar welcomed the gathering.
Congress leaders like Vishnunathan, Ivan D’Souza, Ramanatha Rai, Vinay Kumar Sorake, K Abhayachandra Jain, Moideen Bava, Shakunthala Shetty, Pushpa Amaranath, Vijay Kumar Shetty, Mithun Rai among others were present.
