Mangaluru: In a new milestone towards rural development through tech-based education, National Gandhi Gram Puraskar awardee Hosangady Gram Panchayat in association with Village TV Trust, Mangaluru and other organisations have begun computer learning centres at three Government Higher Primary Schools at Perinje, Paddandadka and Badakodi Villages.
The centres are equipped with state-of-the-art refurbished desktop units with brand new webcam, headset with mic, UPS, mouse and keyboards. The infrastructure setup, and additional accessories jointly provided by Village TV Trust through its E-Learning Projects, Rotary Club, Moodubidire, Rotary Charitable Trust, Moodubidire, Rotary Club, Siddakatte, Peradi Krushi Pattina Sahakari Sangha, a local cooperative bank, SDMC members, and donors of respective villages.
Village TV Trust donors include Spearhead Media Private Limited, which runs news media entities, NewsKarnataka, NewsKannada, Karnataka Today, Rotary Club of Mangalore City and overseas benefactors including Dolphy Vas, Abu Dhabi, Shirish Shetty and Atlanta EC Team, Bunts Association of North America (BANA), Roshan Kamath D’Souza, Abu Dhabi,
Gilbert D’Souza, Sharjah, Manoj Menezes, Abu Dhabi, Shivananda Baikady, Dubai and others.
Centre will be jointly maintained by the Panchayat and SDMCs of respective schools. Computer trainers will be appointed and an honorarium will be provided by Padyarabettu Daivasthana management.

E-Learning Centre
Village TV Trust is working with a very important rural development project, ‘Village TV e-learning Centre’. The core objective of this project is to provide essential IT infrastructure at village level so that school, college-going children, youth and homemakers will get a place where they can access information and learn various vocational skills through online or digital mode which definitely will enhance their future. The project will be initiated in collaboration with the local administrative body, village panchayat for regular monitoring and maintenance of the centre.
Village TV
Village TV is a community-integrated communication approach to sustainable development using ICT. It is a web-based village level visual media outreach programme that strives towards creating 1.4 million jobs pan India and viewership of 65 crores across the nation. The idea is to combine the creativity, enthusiasm, and energy of the youth with the power of media technology to provide an ‘earn while you learn’ offering to more than a million youth in the rural areas of India.
