Mangaluru: A comparative analysis on the BJP Government as against the Congress Government at the state level was conducted in a press meet called for by BJP State President of Backward Class Morcha Putta Swamy. He mentioned in his address that the state government under Siddaramaiah has been denying the backward communities of developmental opportunities in various districts.

Addressing the gathering of party workers and press at BJP office on Tuesday, 25 October, Putta Swamy said, “The backward communities must not be taken for granted by any government. In all of the 224 constituencies, approximately 60% of voters are members of the backward castes. We must empower people of these communities which will in turn bring the government more votes. They infact have the power to turn the tables in a ballot battle if their votes are harnessed effectively by serving them with necessities for development.”

He added to his previous statement that there are 31,108 BJP workers serving the backward classes in the state and that they are directed to carry forward the party’s services to reach out to 6,80,273 members of the backward communities to start with.

He said that under Yeddyurappa Government there had been numerous developmental activities done in favour of backward classes. “The mini loan scheme empowered many unemployed youth in putting up businesses, 179 schools were built to impart education to all and on the whole, various schemes had given backward classes opportunities to grow”, he added.

Central Government schemes for backward classes successful

“The various subsidies given up by the people of the nation under the banner ‘Give it Up’ had seen lakhs of government money saved on giving subsidies. In turn, the money saved was put into the smokeless villages campaign. All over Karnataka, 37.47 lakh families have been beneficiaries of new gas connections which do not compromise on health of women and children while cooking. All this, thanks to the lakhs of people who gave up subsidy”, he said and congratulated the citizens and the central government.

Looking into the reports of the various grants sanctioned by the central government to the state for infrastructure and backward community empowerment, Putta Swamy said that most of the money sanctioned for development purposes has been diverted to other schemes and the backward communities are left in the dark without being given their rightful sanctions. “Several projects meant for the backward classes have not been given any sanctions this financial year at all. There are projects on educational institutions too which are ignored and kept at bay by Siddaramaiah government”, he added.

He went on to say that only approximately 10-12% of the money sanctioned has been put into use in most of the projects. Moreover the Ganga Kalyan Yojana has not seen any sanctions in the 2015-16 year.

Steel Bridge is a money making project

“Though there have been protests over protests and the whole state standing against the steel bridge project, Siddaramaiah and his colleagues are still going gaga over it. The scientific experts have cautioned the state government about the heavy maintenance of the steel bridge every five years and suggested an alternative concrete bridge that can be constructed at half the cost. But a tender of 1350 crore Rupees has already been floated but the estimated cost has now reached 1850 crore Rupees for the steel bridge project”, he said.

“The 500 crore Rupees increase from 1350 to 1850 crore is surely a profit for Siddaramaiah’s government to invest in the next election”, he added.

Intolerance will galore in KA under state government

“The murders of various Hindutva workers in the state have gone un-noticed by the government. They do not want to take it up because of the vote bank pressure. Considering this situation, the future of Karnataka will be filled with intolerance under Siddaramaiah’s Government”, he concluded.
