Mangaluru: Instances of the misled bunch of outsiders, specifically students enrolling their names in the local voters’ list, have been spoken about very often. Following this, the BJP Legal Cell has warned such wrong-doers to refrain from such attempts.
BJP Legal Cell Member Sudhakar Joshi said that BJP workers named Praveen Shet and Girish Kottary had filed a complaint with the JMFC III Court during the last assembly elections and the court, taking note of the same has taken the same up for hearing. The complaints were filed against Dina Shaji, Nibiya Thomas, Merin Mary Joseph, Siji Bejal, Rimel Reji and Poorendhu VS.
Joshi said that Barke police had filed two sets of charge sheets against five accused and the court has considered the cases under sections 17 and 31 of the Representation of People Act, 1950.
He opined that alert party workers had foiled the attempts of some political parties to misuse the students in this way.
K Monappa Bhandary, former MLC said that such attempts are even being done during this elections and the BJP will fight against it.
