Bond to maintain peace process in DK

Puttur: As a precautionary measure brought on by the Dakshina Kannada Superintendent of Police, the Ganeshotsava procession organizers should sign a bond to maintain peace.

“The police cannot be expected to be present at all places during the festivals. Hence, bonds must be signed by the event organizers in certain sensitive areas of the district. This move is not to be misconstrued by anyone as it is in order to remind the organizers about ensuring peace during all the programmes”, said the District Superintendent of Police, Bushan G Borase.

Addressing media personnel, Borase said that the bond system will not be used in 98 percent of the places where the procession and festival celebrations are peaceful. It is also to be noted that Bakr Id is soon approaching and the peace process has to be maintained till the festival ends.

“Stringent measures will be taken against those who try to disrupt the peace process by taking law into their own hands and stop cattle transporters. It is always better to inform the officers of the law than take law into their own hands”, Borase added.

Assistant Superintendent of Police, C B Rishvanth and Inspector of Puttur town, Mahesh Prasad were present at the conference.
