Bantwal: Two brothers were killed after a speeding truck rammed into their motorcycle at Sattikallu near Gadiyar here on Wednesday, December 2.
The deceased are Ashik (26) and his brother Shafique (23), hailing from Kalladka.
According to sources, the duo was riding from Uppinangadi towards Mangaluru when a sand laden truck plying towards Bengaluru from Mangaluru rammed into their motorcycle. Eye witnesses said that the truck was at a high speed and ran on the wrong side in a bid to overtake a vehicle and ended up knocking down the motorcycle.
The impact of the collision was such that the brothers were killed on the spot. The bodies were shifted to Bantwal government hospital.
Soon after the accident, the truck driver fled the spot, it is said. Angry locals stopped all the trucks and staged a protest.
