Mangaluru: Renowned cardiologist Dr. Belle Monappa Hegde (83), popularly known as Dr. B. M. Hegde was awarded Padma Vibhushan, India’s second-highest civilian award by President of India Ram Nath Kovind on Tuesday November 9.
Dr. Hegde was a recipient of Padma Bhushan earlier in 2010. Exceptional orator and admired by many for his simple way of conveying health tips, Dr. Hegde has also authored many books on medicine field.
Dr. Hegde had also been honoured with Dr. B. C. Roy Award in 1999.
