Mangaluru: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Founder Keshav Baliram Hedgewar’s speech has been included in the Kannada textbook of class X for the academic year 2022-23. The Campus Front of India (CFI) Bantwal Taluk Committee staged a protest at Kaikamba junction here in the Dakshina Kannada District demanding that it be withdrawn at the earliest as it is a continuation of the saffronisation of education.
Bantwal Taluk President Ashfaq said at the protest that under headline Who should be the true role model?, Hegdewar’s speech included by textbook revision committee headed by Rohith Chakratirtha. This is the 5th chapter in Kannada for Class X. The protestors questioning how Hedgewar, the Founder of the RSS, the terror outfit that has carried out genocides across the country and has been banned many times in the country, could become an ideal man. The protesters alleged that Government made Rohit Chakratirth, who was trained under RSS , Chairman of the Revising Committee with the aim of brahmanising the textbook curriculum.
He said that the Government should educate students to understand aim of the Constitution and to emphasise harmony in the society. However, it is teaching speeches of persons who have anti-national thoughts of defaming the Constitution and making it a Hindu Nation. It is an insult to the real freedom fighters. This is an act of treason, he alleged.
With the inclusion of the speech of a traitor who misled the people with the idea of his own Hindu Nation during the freedom struggle, it is clear that there is an attempt to impose the Hindutva ideology in education, he asserted.
Campus Front of India District Secretary Shamsuddin has strongly opposed this and demanded that Hedgewar’s speech should be dropped from the syllabus at the earliest.
