Kasaragod: Two children met a watery grave in Payaswini River near Bavikara locality on November 28, Monday afternoon when they had been there along three of their friends to swim.

Hashim aged 12, and Abdul Aziz aged 17, are the deceased.

Locals rescued two other children from drowning. However, their efforts to save Hashim and Aziz went in vain though they were shifted to Chengala Hospital immediately after the rescue.

The school holiday following the Bandh call given by ruling left front to protest against union government’s demonetisation had given the children opportunity to plan their outing which turned fatal for two.
