City remembers fallen policemen

Mangalore: Mangalore city police observed ‘Police Martyr’s Day’ in its premises on Tuesday, October 21. Mangalore Commissioner of Police R. Hitendra and Dakshina Kannada Superintendent of Police Dr. Sharanappa read out the names of police personnel who had laid down their lives while on duty between 2013 and 2014.

Hitendra said the threat of life is more for police who work at the border and ‘terror zones’. The enemies are prepared to kill the police, without any second thought.

District Judge Uma, in her speech appreciated the work of policemen in maintaining law and order in the city. She stressed on the importance of social security to the policemen.

IGP (Western range) Amrit Paul, police commissioner R. Hitendra, superintendent of police P Dr Sharanappa, district Judge M G Uma paid tribute to the policemen who sacrificed their lives on duty.
