Mangaluru: Close on the heels of former minister Krishna J Palemar alleging that the water situation in the district went from bad to worse only because the MCC officials did not place the mandatory planks on to the Thumbay vented dam within the stipulated time, MLA Mohiudeen Bava said that Palemar was resorting to making statements without actually looking into the documents of the corporation.
Speaking in a press conference on Friday he said that the allegations made on the MCC were far from truth as the fact was that the gates of the dam were closed by December, 2015.
“Usually between January and March an average of 100mm rainfall will be there but this time it was only 13mm so Mangaluru people faced drought like situation. Even after knowing all these facts Palemar is misleading people by giving false statements,” he said ad questioned as to why no efforts were made to get Lakya dam water to Mangaluru when the BJP was in power.
“Now that the plans of bringing Lakya dam water to Mangaluru has materialised, the BJP wants to claim credit for the same,” he said.
MCC Mayor Harinath among others were present.
