Bantwal: Bunts have progressed a great deal ahead in the society because of gender equality and complimentary education and have set high standards for others to emulate, opined state chief minister Siddaramaiah during the inauguration of new Buntara Bhavana on October 30 here.
Addressing the gathering as the chief guest during the Inaugural ceremony of the magnificent building situated on BC road – Mangaluru national highway near Thumbay Valavoor, the CM said, Bunt community has made phenomenal strides in the areas of banking, education and agriculture using courage, conviction and business acumen. He wished the trend continues and hoped other communities too benefit from bunts thereby uplifting the entire society in social and economic spheres by the donor attitude of fields.
Conveying Diwali wishes the CM sanctioned Rs 1 crore from the state government towards the new venture and lauded the efforts of the bunt community in constructing an architectural marvel in the state.
Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari Dr. Veerendra Heggade inaugurated the building in the traditional manner and offered a photograph of deity Lord Manjunatha and two lamps on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion, he said, the Bunts ancestors were Jains who later converted and have upheld the rich cultural traditions of Tulunadu with their greatness. Irrespective of personal achievements they always stay connected to their roots and have contributed to literature too, he added. They have earned a name in cities like Mumbai and the new facility should not be restricted to only bunt community but others too, he stated.
Odiyoor Shri Gurudevananda Swamiji of Gurudevadutta Samsthanam delivered few words and blessed the gathering.
Buntara Yane Nadavara Sangha President Ajith Rai Malady lit the lamp to declare open the day’s proceedings.
District in-charge minister Ramanath Rai, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, Minister UT Khadar, MLAs Abhayachandra Jain, J R Lobo , Moideen Bava, Shakuntala Shetty, Mumabi MP Gopala Shetty, Chief whip in the council Ivan D’souza were present.
Canara bank executive director Hardish Kumar Shetty, Mumbai cricket association secretary Dr. P V Shetty, Businessmen BR Shetty, RN Shetty, Prakash Shetty, AJ Shetty, Sudhir Shetty, Shashikiran Shetty, PV Shetty Bellur Parari were present from the business community.
Senior litterateur Laxminarayan Alva, Alva’s group institution head Dr. M Mohan Alva and many other prominent dignitaries were present on the occasion.
