Commotion in State: M’luru Police carry out route march to instill confidence in citizens

Mangaluru: The City police carried out a route march in the City here on the morning of Monday February 21.

The march that began from Ballalbagh in the City covered routes comprising PVS, MG Road, Ambedkar Circle, Hampankatta and ended at Police Commissioner’s Office in the city. The March was led Police Commissioner N. Shashi  Kumar.

In the background of Bajrang Dal activist Harsha’s murder case in Shivamogga on Sunday February 20, and the ongoing Hijab controversy Statewide, the route march was held to instill confidence among citizens.

Speaking to News Karnataka Police Commisioner N. Shashi Kumar said that as people are confused and worried due to the latest sensitive developments Statewide, as a morale booster to the citizens, and to maintain law and order situation in general the route march was conducted. Also, the show of strength was to avoid any miscreants from creating disturbances.

Due to the march, traffic congestion was witnessed at several parts of the City.
