Conduct a panel probe into alleged irregularities: Lobo

Mangaluru: Breaking his silence, after opposition BJP in the MCC, alleged ‘corruption and irregularities’ in the first phase of underground sewage pipeline laying work under ADB project in the city, MLA JR Lobo on Saturday, said a expert panel committee can be initiated to conducted a probe into the alleged lapses.

He was answering in MCC’s monthly meeting, after the opposition leader in the council Ganesh Hosabettu alleged that the MLA was responsible for substandard work in sewage pipe line laying under ADB first phase in Surathkal.

Continuing, MLA JR Lobo said that opposition need not politicize this issue. “You need the truth, to come out. During the ADB’s first phase work, I was the deputy project director for KUDCEMP. I stepped down as project head in December 2009. The laying of sewage pipeline in Surathkal under first phase of underground sewage pipeline laying project under the ADB was done in 2011. I had made sure there was no misuse of funds when I headed the project t,” he said.
When the BJP Councillors protested at the well of the house on the row over the ADB project, Corporator Appi condemn the statement of Union Minster Ananth Kumar Hegde on his constitution remarks. She also said that Union Minister has insulted Dr BR Ambedkar and the Dalits.

MCC commissioner Mohammed Nazir reacting to the corporators said the documents pertaining to the ADB’s first phase work will be given to all corportaors in the next council meeting.

The entire council meeting concluded in a chaos.
