Mangaluru: Mangaluru City police Commissioner S Murugan has suspended Ayyappa, a police constable attached with Bunder police station on charges of dereliction of duty.
After the news of double murder in the district jail premises broke on November 2, media rushed to the spot to collect details. During this time, an undertrial named Faizal, who was being taken to the court, told media that the police staff was involved in the murders and that they had supplied weapons to the murderers in a blue cover.
Ayyappa was on duty as the police escort to Faizal. Since Faizal was allowed to talk to the media, the constable has been held guilty leading to his suspension.
