Mangalore: “The home minister has finalized to compensate Kabeer’s family with Rs 10 lakh but I would request that he be granted at least Rs 25 lakhs”, said Mangalore North MLA BA Moideen Bava.
“Within 6 hours of the killing of Kabeer by an ANF official, we took up the case with the government and within 6 days we have tried to come to the aid of the aggrieved family. This is not a matter of religion, but a matter of justice that must prevail in such a case of inhumane act”, added Bava, the former president of district Congress minority wing.
Bava insisted that the accused ANF officials must be imprisoned. He added that the accused ANF cop namely Naveen Nayak and other police men who were along with him have been booked under Section 302, 295 (A), and 341 of IPC.
He also urged that the state government should take stringent action against the extremists who have attacked the relatives of Kabeer.
Claiming that he has full faith in the CID probe ordered into the incident, Bava stated, “We will abide by the report and who so ever the culprit is, he will be punished.”
Bava also said that Kabeer has a sister and she has been psychologically affected due to the incident. He said that the family is burdened and they stay in a rented house. Bava also informed that he has taken the initiative to open an account in Kabeer’s mother’s name so that people can remit their contributions to the family.
