Mangalore : The Vishwa Hindu Parishat and the Bhajrangdal have strongly condemned the Congress leaders for taking political advantage of the Shringeri shoot-out case and resorting to a divisive politics on the issue.
In a press communiqué, the two organisations said if at all the government decides to entrust the case to the CBI, then it should also undertake a CBI investigation into the cattle smuggling and slaughter cases in the state,.
Hurling a serious allegation that the ruling party MLAs and ministers were backing the cattle smugglers, the two organisations said it was wrong to project Kabeer and others in the case as innocents and pointed out that they have several cases against them in Shringeri, Koppa, Chikmagalur, Suratkal and Karkala police stations.
The Hindu outfits have also questioned why the Congress leaders of the district were keen on a CBI probe when the chief minister himself has ruled out a CBI probe..
They have further urged the government to take stern action against cattle smuggling and slaughter and also to undertake a thorough and impartial probe into the Shringeri incident and ensure such incidents do not recur.
