Kasaragod: The Central Plantation Crop Research Institute (CPCRI) is organising a massive ‘Kissan Mela” to coincide with its centenary celebrations on December 10.Addressing a press conference, CPCRI Director Dr. P .Chowdappa said a workshop on coconut research and development will be held during the Mela.
The centenary celebrations of CPCRI will be inaugurated by Union Agricultural Minister Radha Mohan Singh.
More than 5000 farmers are likely to take part in the Mela which will begin at 10 am on December 10.
According to the Director, Centenary building, Centenary Park and Millennium Guest House will be inaugurated on the occasion.
Kerala Revenue Minister E Chandrashekharan will release a book highlighting the achievements of the century old institute.
During the mela, a national level exhibition and interactive sessions will be held and useful information to the farmers will be provided by progressive agriculture scientists and horticulture officers, informed Dr.Chowdappa.
Senior scientist Dr. Muralidhar, K P Chandran and Shyam Prasad were present during the press briefing.
