DC extends Covid induced restrictions on temples in DK

Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner Dr. Rajendra K. V. issued an order on Tuesday September 7 to continue the Covid-19 induced restrictions in the temples.

In the order, DC Rajendra has instructed that the Durga Parameshwari Temple, Kateel and Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala and Kukke Subrahmanya Temple to open from 7 am to 7 pm for the devotees. Social distancing, wearing mask, and following the Covid appropriate behaviour is made mandatory for the devotees while visiting the temples. Theertha prasadam, and food distribution (Anna Santarpane) are not allowed.

The temples should be closed for the devotees on weekends (Saturday and Sunday). Except for the traditional pooja, all the other activities such as holding festivals, processions, distribution of Prasadam, tonsuring (Mudi Seve) etc. are forbidden.

DC mentioned that the order has been issued to control the possible outbreak of the third wave of Covid- 19 in the district. All the following restrictions will continue till the next order.

DC warned strict legal actions against violators of the above orders.
