Mangaluru: With the GSB community members taking exception to media reports with regard to arrest of a person reportedly having close connections with Kashi Mutt Samsthan, Rationalist Prof Narendra Nayak has said that the group fighting for justice in Vinayak Baliga murder case was only seeking justice and was not resorting to any deeds which would defame anyone.
Addressing a news conference on Friday, at the residence of Baliga, Prof Nayak said that some of the people belonging to GSB community have formed an association which is named as GSB Rakshana Vedike. They are alleging that Baliga family has joined their hands with some miscreants to defame not just the GSB community but also the Kashi Mutt Samsthan.
“We have no intention to defame anyone. Our aim is to provide justice to Baliga’s family. The so called GSB Rakshana Vedike is not a registered organization. If they were really interested in protecting the GSB community why are they not supporting Vinayak Baliga’s family? We want to know if this organisation is the protector of the GSB community or the protector of the accused in the case, who is also from the same community,” Prof Nayak questioned and pointed that even after 40 days of Baliga’s brutal killing, the Vedike members have not visited the grieving family of Vinayak Baliga.
Vinayak Baliga’s sister Usha Shenoy, who said that people who are fighting for justice for Vinayak are not miscreants wanting to defame some, after a point broke into tears remembering her brother.
Lawyer Vasudev Rao, Dalita Sangharsha Samiti State leader Devdas, DYFI District Secretary Santhosh Bajal and others were present.
