Nasima Banu, a resident of Bangarakody in Bolanthur village was admitted to a government hospital in Bantwal on October 24 after she complained of labour pains.
Doctors, after an hour, suggested the family to shift her to a hospital in Mangaluru because of a Machonium strain problem due to which they said they cannot do the delivery.
Immediately, the family members called an ambulance and took her to Mangaluru along with a staff nurse.
While she was being taken in a 108 ambulance and they reached Padil, the labour pain had worsened. The Staff nurse Chetan, sensing the urgency to make a decision, stepped up and ensured safe delivery.
After the delivery, the mother and new born child were shifted to Ladygoshen hospital. Both are said to be healthy and doing fine.
Even though doctors at the government hospital denied treatment, both the staff nurse Chethan and the driver Nagappa were well appreciated by the public for their timely help.
