Mangaluru: The strengthening process of Dakshina Kannada district Janatha Dal (Secular) has begun as they have recruited new members into their party. A meeting with the JD(S) party workers was convened by the party supremo at Moti Mahal on Saturday where he requested the workers to uphold the glory of the party.
More than a hundred new members were recruited into JD(S) and they were welcomed by the National President of the party, Deve Gowda himself. He instructed them to give their best and prepare for the next assembly election as the party has the potential to win.
MLA of Shorab, Shivamogga and JDS Youth Wing President Madhu Bangarappa gave the opening speech by saying that the Congress and BJP brought the development proposed by Deve Gowda to a standstill. “When H D Deve Gowda was the Prime Minister, several people friendly projects were initiated. He had also proposed several development projects for Dakshina Kannada. But all the projects were scrapped by both the national parties”, he said.
Speaking to the party workers at the event, JD(S) National President and former Prime Minister Deve Gowda requested the workers with folded hands to keep the party running and ever powerful. In addition to what he said at the press conference in the morning, he said that there should be solidarity among the party members and make JD(S) being a regional party successful in reaching the top.
He humbly spoke to the party workers and said, “We should make our party stand up on it’s own and no matter what we must stay loyal to the party. The concept of the regional party must be preserved in order to maintain healthy competition.”
After addressing the party workers, Deve Gowda honoured party workers who recruited more people into the party and welcomed them with gratitude.
District President of JD(S) Mohammad Kunhi, local leaders Saifullah Khan, M B Sadashiv, former ministers B A Jeevijaya and Amarnath Shetty were present among the others.
