Mangaluru: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Dr. Rajendra K. V. on Wednesday January 5 said that the weekend curfew will be in place from this week onwards in the District as per State Government’s new guidelines.
Addressing mediapersons here the DC said, “The curfew will be on from Friday 8.00 pm till Monday 5.00 am. However, the bus transport has been allowed during the weekend curfew. Shops selling essential commodities are allowed to open so that the people can buy required commodities from shops near to their localities,” he said.
Further, the DC has instructed the authrorities concerned to grant holidays to schools and colleges during the weekend curfew. However, examinations will be held as usual. The functions already scheduled are allowed to take place as per the guidelines of the State Government with only 200 people in attendance.
The DC requested the public to cooperate so as to contain the Coronavirus spread.
Also, DC visited Talapady checkpost and instructed to keep a tight vigil in the backdrop of weekend curfew and latest curbs by the State Government in the wake of third wave and also spread of Omicron variant of Coronavirus.
State reports 4,246 new Covid cases
State on Wednesday reported 4246 new cases of Covid – 19. Out of the 4246 cases, 3,605 were reported in Bengaluru while the positivity rate in the State stood at 3.33%.
