Mangaluru: To avoid the spread of the Omicron variant of Covid-19, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Rajendra K. V. has urged authorities from the Mangalore International Airport (MIA) and the New Mangalore Port Trust (NMPT) to remain vigilant.

He was addressing a meeting of representatives from the MIA and the NMPT. “RT-PCR negative reports are required for all passengers arriving at the airport. If a person tests positive at the airport, authorities should make quick arrangements to transport him or her to a hospital by ambulance. Even the NMPT should take all necessary precautions,” he informed.

Upon arrival at the port, all passengers from domestic and international vessels shall undergo RT – PCR tests. “In addition, the Health Department should get data on all passengers arriving at the port on a weekly basis. People should show their vaccination certificates while entering government offices in the District,” he added.
