Mangaluru: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Dr. Rajendra K. V. has directed the concerned officials to open the schools in Dakshina Kannada districts in strict adherence with Covid – 19 guidelines.

Presiding over a meeting held on Monday September 13 here in the DC’s office he said, September 17 onwards 8, 9th and 10th classes will begin and September 20 onwards 6th and 7th standard classes can open in the district. He also ordered to start all first PUC classes.

He further said 99 per cent of school teachers and staff have already been vaccinated in the district.

“Students must wear masks after school starts and teachers must provide appropriate information to maintain social distancing,” he instructed.

He said schools should not force students to pay fees once they start online classes. School heads should make arrangements to provide toilets and other infrastructure for students. Schools should continue online classes with physical classes.

He said that for attending physical classes students should take parents’ permission.

He ordered to make arrangements to stay in hostels for the students from Kerala. If not for them the online classes should be continued, he added.
