DK to hold International Film Festival 2015 from Nov 22

Mangaluru: Karnataka Chief Minister will be inaugurating the 10th edition of Children’s India International Film Festival at Panambur Beach on November 22, Dakshina Kannada District In-Charge Minister B Ramanath Rai informed.

The film festival which will be held from November 22-26 will mark the 125th birth anniversary of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. The event is organized under the joint aegis of Karnataka Film Academy and DK District Administration.

Addressing a press meet at the DC’s office here on Wednesday, November 4, Rai said that the festival will be held in Dakshina Kannada for the first time. All previous editions were held in Bengaluru.

Deputy Commissioner AB Ibrahim said that films will be screened in 12 theaters in Mangaluru and five theaters in other taluks of the district. The theatres can accommodate around 7,500 children for a show and as many as 1,20,000 children can watch the movies in four days. The shows will be relayed from 9:00am to 3:30pm.

The Festival Director NR Nanjunde Gowda informed that 30 delegates from across the globe will take part. As many as 250 films from 40 countries will be screened in various genres such as feature, short movies, environmental and animated. Workshops pertaining to movie production will also be held by experts, he added.

Renowned movie director Rajendra Singh Babu and former union minister and Rajyasabha Member Oscar Fernandes were present at the meet.
