Mangaluru: In the near future, the domestic LPG will be available through the pipelines in the select areas of the five taluks of the Dakshina Kannada district, according to MP Nalin Kumar Kateel.
Addressing the reporters on Wednesday, November 21, Nalin said, “This important project will be launched at the Town Hall on December 22 at around 2.30 PM. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will officially lay the foundation stone for this project through video conference. Union Minister D V Sadananda Gowda, MLAs Vedavyas Kamath, Dr. Y Bharath Shetty and Mayor Bhaskar K will participate in the programme”, he said.
Elaborating about the project, Nalin said the pipeline would be installed at Bantwal, Beltangady, Mangaluru, Puttur and Sullia taluks. “Initially, domestic gas will be provided through pipeline to some selected areas and later there is a plan to extend it to other areas also. A total of Rs 1972 Crore will be invested on this project and it will be beneficial for over 20 lakh people in the country”, he said.
Gail Gas Limited General Manager Vivek Vathodkar informed that there was a plan to start five Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) stations in Dakshina Kannada district by March 2019.
