Kasaragod: Under the guidelines of the Central government, union minister for law and justice D V Sadananda Gowda laid the foundation stone for the building complex of the Central University on Friday September 4.
Addressing the gathering, D V Sadananda Gowda said that the government is dedicated to build a medical college in the region.
“The central government’s main aim is to provide facility for getting high standard of education in the country. The university here will get transformed into an international level education hub”, he said.
Gowda informed that Prime Minister Modi has announced about the added thrust on health conservation, treatment, cleanliness of public places, health preservation, treatment etc.
“The central government’s aims at ensuring high quality education to 50 percent of youngsters, and to see that they get recognition at national and international level,” he said.
Kerala Central University vice chancellor, Dr G Gopakumar, presided, Kerala minister for agriculture, K P Mohanan, local MP, P Karunakaran, Uduma MLA, K Kunhiraman, BJP state president, P Puralidharan, zilla panchayat president, P P Shyamaladevi, Kanhangad block panchayat president, A Krishnan, and Pullur-Periya gram panchayat president, C K Aravindakshan, addressed the gathering.
Acting registrar of the central university, Dr K C Baiju delivered the welcome speech while Reception committee convener, V Shashidharan, proposed vote of thanks.
Central University is scheduled to house eight study centres of the university at Periya in the district.
