Mangaluru: The Dakshina Kannada Bus Owners’ Association had come to common terms with the MLA of South Constituency Vedavyas Kamath who had requested the bus owners to provide free service for those attending the ‘Janagraha’ convention being organised by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), on November 25 in the coastal city.

Amid this, the State President of Democratic Youth Front of India (DYFI) Muneer Katipalla has expressed his displeasure over this mutual understanding between the bus owners’ association and Vedavyas Kamath.

Muneer has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS ) of creating communal tension by supporting such an event by VHP and moreover, providing free buses for the attendees.

Muneer has termed this move by the BJP and RSS as ‘vote bank politics’.

As a clarification, the President of Dakshina Kannada Bus Owners’ Association, Dilraj Alva has said that there were instances in the past like this wherein the bus services were offered for free for many such religious and political conventions and that this was not the first of its kind.

Dilraj has also said that the move by the bus owners’ association mirrored communal harmony citing that the bus owners come from different religious backgrounds but had come to a mutual understanding for providing free services for any sort of convention.
