Mangaluru: Dr. Rajendra K. V., Dakshina Kannada District Deputy Commissioner (DC), has directed that Eid Milad be observed in a simple manner, in accordance with the Covid norms.

The order states that, “Eid Milad processions in large groups have been prohibited. Any day or night discourses, as well as cultural programmes or meetings, held in Mohallas should not have more than a hundred people in attendance. Safe distance should be maintained and Covid protocol should be followed in mosques and dargahs, and sufficient precautions should be taken to maintain social distancing. Microphones, digital sound systems, and other similar devices should not be used in public areas.”

Following Covid-related guidelines, mass prayers can be offered. If there are a large number of people present, mass prayers can be offered in two or more batches. While offering namaz in mosques, a minimum of six feet between each other should be maintained. It is not permissible to shake hands or hug.

According to the order, mass prayers cannot be held in public venues other than mosques.
