Mangaluru: ‘Encounter Specialist’ Daya Nayak has been transferred to the Anti-Terrorism Squad of Maharashtra police, on Tuesday.
Nayak, who holds the rank of a police inspector, was attached to the Amboli police station in Mumbai, reported PTI.
Nayak hails from Yennehole in Karkala taluk and is a 1995 batch officer who has served the department over his 24-year career. He shot to fame for fearlessly fighting out the anti-social and the underworld elements and in the course of this he earned the title ‘encounter specialist’.
He was awarded the Karnataka Rajyostava award in 2004. Nayak had built a school at his native place and handed it over to the government.
