Bantwal: As Litterateur Erya Lakshminarayana Alva (95) passed away on Saturday, July 27 due to cardiac arrest, his last rites were performed, here on Sunday, July 28.
The last rites were held as per his last wish of being cremated in his farm land located at Majalu. He had conferred the rights of performing his last rites to his son-in-law Erya Balakrishna Hegde.
Earlier in the day, his mortal remains were brought to his residence from the hospital at 9 AM and rituals were carried out. Later, the mortal remains was kept for public viewing.
Meanwhile, personalities from various walks of lives paid their last respect.
Chairperson of Alva’s Educational Institutions, Dr Mohan Alva, Mangaluru Lok Sabha Constituency MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, as a representative to Dharmadhikari Dr D Veerendra Heggade of Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatha Swamy Temple, his brother Harshendra Kumar, former ministers U T Khader and Ramanath Rai, BJP leaders Capt Ganesh Karnik and Harikrishna Bantwal and many others paid their last respects.
Meanwhile, BJP MLA from Bantwal Assembly Constituency Rajesh Naik too has condoled the litterateurs’ death.
