Mangaluru: Co-Convener of the Mangaluru unit of Bajrang Dal Punith Raj Kottari, the prime accused in the case filed in connection to a derogatory Facebook post against social activist Vidya Dinker was arrested on Saturday December 26.

According to sources, Punith has been produced to court and remanded to judicial custody till December 28.

It may be recalled that Vidya Dinker had filed a complaint at Kadri police station against Punith and 21 others for posting abusive comments against her on Facebook, after she registered a complaint against Bajrang Dal for forcibly stopping the screening of Shah Rukh Khan starrer ‘Dilwale’ in the city.

Apart from naming 22 including Punith, Dinker in her complaint had also stated that a Facebook page called ‘Veera Kesari’ and its followers had posted comments threatening to rape and murder her.

Recently, Mangaluru City Police Commissioner in a press meet had said that though he assured adequate security, the theatre owners were not willing to screen the movie, possibly fearing the saffron outfits.
