Mangaluru: A 41-year-old man who had gone fishing was found dead near Barakha fish oil mill on Tuesday morning, April 12.
The deceased has been identified as Raju Kotian from Mogaveerapattna.
The body was found in the afternoon by a few children with the face smashed with a stone and other wounds. He had been for fishing early in morning at 2 am.
It is suspected that he might have been murdered and dumped on the gorge by miscreants.
Raju got married nine years back and had no children. He left his mobile at home in the morning and went fishing. Other two fellow fishermen did not find Raju and hence called his family. Raju’s family members informed them that he had left for work.
The locals are suspecting that he might have met with an accident and the truck drivers must have dumped his body after the mishap.
Meanwhile several Mogaveeras gathered at the spot and urged police to nab the culprits at the earliest.
DCP, ACB, CCB team, Pandeshwar, Bajpe and Mangaluru rural police rushed to the spot. KSRP troops too arrived at the spot. The canine squad and finger print experts were called for investigation.
The body has been sent to Deralakatte private hospital for the post mortem.
