Mangaluru: Over 150 passengers of a Mumbai-bound Jet Airways flight had to put up with a wait of more than six hours at the Mangaluru international airport here on Tuesday December 26 after their flight was detected with a technical snag minutes before its scheduled take-off at 11.15 am.
As per reports the snag came to the notice of the pilot while he was taxying the aircraft on the runway, even though the flight had got clearance for take-off after routine checks thereby averting danger.
An engine oil leakage had caused the delay, stated sources who added that in this case the passengers had to put with a long wait at the airport as a spare part was to be replaced and it took nearly five hours to get the same. The flight finally departed at 6.05 pm.
Notably this is the second such instance in a span of three months. Earlier, on September 21 an Air India flight had to resort to emergency landing at the airport barely 30 minutes after take off due to a failure in one of its engine.
