Karkala: Police nabbed two persons armed with lethal weapons for entering the compound of a former right wing activist. Police have booked a case treating this incident as a “threat to life” of the activist.

Irfan of Kumbhrapadav and Deepak Achari of Tellaru 12th road are the ones arrested in this connection.

On December 26 night, the bike borne armed duo had jumped into the compound of Anil Prabhu (40), resident of Tellaru in Karkala and a former convener of local Bajrang Dal unit. When neighbours heard the heated arguments in the premises and volunteered to intervene, the accused fled the spot.

Anil Prabhu was in the limelight as a convenor of Bajrang Dal and was very active in protesting against cattle slaughter and Akrama-Sakrama issues. He faced stiff opposition from various quarters and police after collecting vital information, nabbed the two men before the situation could get worse.

Team led by town police inspector Ravi also confiscated the bikes used by the accused on December 26.
