Bantwal: Poonjalkatte police have arrested 4 persons on charges of transporting ganja in an auto on Tuesday, November 24.
Abdul Samad(22) from Ullal Darga, Abdul Safwan(19) from Ullal Dharmanagar, Mohammad Sadiq(47) from Ullal Subhashnagar and Mohammad Siraj(34) from Manjanady are the arrested.
Police said that the accused were carrying ganja towards Belthangady. Poonjalkatte station officer Lathesh Kumar and staff carried out the operation.
The accused, seeing the police who were patrolling in Punjalkatte did not stop the auto and tried to escape. However police chased the auto, intercepted and found 300 grams of ganja worth Rs 6000.
The Ganja and the vehicle used has been seized by the police.
The accused revealed to police that they had got ganja from a person named Farooq from Gerukatte. Police are probing the case and the accused were produced in court.
