Bantwal: In a rare incident, Fr. Muller’s medical college staff member displayed honesty by returning the cash found at an ATM which actually belonged to a van driver.
Hakim, resident of Thumbe near Bantwal, visited an Indian bank ATM in Fathima tower to withdraw cash of Rs 10,000. All of a sudden, due to power failure he could not take the cash after entering the PIN details. Though he waited for a long time, he failed to get the amount and went home depressed. Hakim had his account in Corporation Bank branch and had informed about the loss to the bank staff.
Within few minutes, another customer Genita Meena D’Cunha went to the same ATM counter and found Rs 10,000 in the ATM cash dispenser. Soon she took the cash and handed it over to the hospital administrator Dr Kiran Shetty who in turn gave it to hospital employee Jaison to hand it over to the rural police station.
When Sub Inspector Rakshith Gowda received the cash, he managed to trace Hakim and handed it over to him. The SI appreciated the honesty displayed by hospital staff members, mainly Genita Meena D’Cunha.
