Belthangady: “In order to alleviate the food needs of animals, the State Government has planned to plant fruit saplings in the forest. This is a pilot project which will be implemented in Belthangady taluk,” said Forest Minister Aravind Limbavali.
He was speaking after launching the project by planting fruit saplings at 12,000 acres of land at Dharmasthala here on Saturday June 5 also marking the World Environment Day. In all, 125 acres of land has been eaarked for the same, he added.
D Veerendra Heggade, Dharmadhikari of Dharmasthala and MLA Harish Poonja were present on the occasion. The programme was jointly organised by Shri Kshetra Dharmasthala and the Forest Department.
The minister also visited Heggade at Dharmasthala and paid obeisance to Lord Manjunath from outside the temple on the occasion.
