Mangaluru: A man was conned of Rs 24.95 lakh by a group who disguised themselves as police. Though the incident took place on December 9, a police complaint was lodged only on December 12.
A man named Zubair (26), originally hailing from Kozhikode, in his complaint lodged with the Mangaluru Rural Police, stated that he was working with a Mumbai based firm and the owner had given him the cash to be handed over to a person in Mangaluru. On December 9, as he reached Mangaluru Central Railway Station, a group who approached him, introduced themselves to be police and put him in a Bolero and fled from the spot. They later snatched the cash and his mobile phone and dropped him at Maripalla.
Investigations are underway.
