Moodbidri: A gang brutally assaulted a duo plying on a two-wheeler and fled away with Rs 5 lakh cash. The incident took place at Pranthya in Moodbidri on Monday, November 9 at around 9pm.
The injured are identified as Chandrashekar (60) and Pranesh (35). They are employed at Moodbidri’s famous grocery store owned by Parkar Ismail Saheb.
As a routine practice, the duo, after work hours locked the store and were on their way to the owner’s house in Kotebagilu to handover the day’s collection. A gang, aware of this, followed the duo in a four-wheeler and knocked them down at a secluded place.
According to sources, the gang beat up the duo using lethal weapons and fled away with the cash. Chandrashekhar and Pranesh have been hospitalized. A case has been registered at the Moodbidri police station.
