Global wellness Meet–2016 to be held from Feb 26

Mangaluru: Karnataka Ayurvedic and Unani Practitioner’s Board will be organizing a Global wellness Meet–2016 from February 26-28 at Gayathri Vihar Palace Grounds, Bengaluru.

A recording breaking yoga session will be held on Sunday, February 14 starting from 2 pm as part of the meet, Health Minister UT Khader informed on Saturday.

The current record of holding the longest yoga session dates to the International Yoga Day held in Delhi where 35,896 individuals participated in the session. Prime Minister Modi was also a part of it.

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will inaugurate the programme.

King of Bali, Indonesia, representatives from SAARC and union and state ministers will be among the prominent guests, Khader informed. Over 7 lakh visitors, about 20,000 delegates and 15,000 ISM practitioners are expected to participate.

Addressing a press meet, Khader said that the global meet intends to promote medicinal combination of Ayurveda and Unani. The highlights of the meet will be a global exhibition – expo of Ayurveda, Unani, Yoga and Naturopathy industries, international seminar on global wellness, international business meet, health tourism and Indian systems of medicine, rural health care through Indian systems of medicine, AYU free health consultations from renowned physicians, alumni meet for Indian systems of medicine colleges of Karnataka, pre-conference workshop and cultural programs, public awareness programs like home remedies, Ayurveda ethnic food carnival, over 250 paper presentations on various themes, poster presentations on successful clinical practice, medicinal plants expo, Udyog Mela for Indian systems of medicine doctors and Loan Mela for ISM students and professionals through banks.

The Board will also setup a 124-ft tall statue of Dhanvantari, the Guru of Ayurveda in front of the Palace Grounds. The statue will be made of Plaster of Paris and fibre. The statue will be entered into the Guinness Book of World Records.
