Hadadi police nab dacoits, Sullia burglary case cracked

Sullia: A gang of dacoits arrested by Hadadi police in Davanagere were remanded to 2 days police custody by local court on October 17. The gang had confessed about a burglary committed in Sullia an year ago.

A residence in Kanthanagar was burgled on October 10, 2015 by the accused, Ranga alias Rangappa (32), resident of Hosadurga, Tilak Kumar (39) of Channagiri, Sachin (39)of Davanagere, Sharanappa (30) of Hiriyur and Krishnappa (42).

The accused involved in multiple crimes including dacoity and robbery were arrested by Hadadi police recently. During interrogation they confessed to the crime committed in Sullia. All accused were handed over to Sullia police for further investigation. Sullia police produced the accused in the court which remanded them to 2 days in police custody.

Case history

The dacoits broke through the back door of the residence belonging to one P Ramachandra, proprietor of Bharath Agro supplies on October 10, 2015 and tied the inmates including the couple and their maid. They decamped with Rs 8 lakh worth jewelry, Rs 15,000 worth silver utensils and Rs 65,000 cash. The police had formed 3 teams then to apprehend the accused, but their efforts had gone in vain.

The accused were taken to the residence of P.Ramachandra by a police team led by circle inspector V. Krishnaiah to extract more details on October 17. Lot of people gathered near the residence of Ramachandra, since the burglary had sent shock waves among the residents of the town last year.
