Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada District Commissioner (DC) Dr. Rajendra K. V. declared holidays for schools in the District on the morning of Thursday May 19 owing to heavy rains.
According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast, heavy rain is expected in Dakshina Kannada District and coastal areas on May 19. Following this, the DC has declared a school holiday to ensure the safety of students.
However, the sudden announcement of a holiday on Thursday morning has caused uncertainty and inconvenience among the public and parents.
The Information Officer declared about the holiday at 8.24 am when all students had arrived at school. Why did they declare a holiday at the last minute, when there was a clear IMD alert?, asked a parent.
