Mangaluru: A 20-year-old youth was electrocuted when he came in contact with high-tension wire at Kote-Beeri on outskirts of the city on Thursday night.
Deceased is Usman, son of Husainer, resident of Konaje. Adkarepadpu. Sharif (25), resident of Konaje Thiblepadavu has been injured in the incident and admitted to private hospital.
It is reportedly said that six laborers were working on borewell pipelines and Usman, one of the workers was electrocuted when he lifted a pipe, which accidentally came in contact with a high-tension wire.
Usman was the only son of his parents. A ninth standard dropout, Usman had joined the new job on Wednesday after working as a daily wage labourer for many years. Meanwhile, contractor Khalil, under whom Usman was employed is absconding.
A case has been registered.
