Mangaluru: Hindu religion is the only religion which has accorded utmost importance to women said Padma Bhushan Dr David Frawley on Sunday, November 4.
He was addressing the gathering after releasing his book ‘What is Hinduism’ during the second and final day of Mangaluru Lit Fest organised at Dr TMA Pai International Convention Center.
David, an American-Hindu teacher and author said, “Hindus offers pooja to various Goddesses like Kali, Saraswathi, Lakshmi among others and women in Hindu religion are considered as the mother of the universe. But, we don’t see such situations in other religions.”
Vouching for construction of Ram Mandira in Ayodhya, he said that temples are meant to promote harmony and there should not be opposition for constructing Ram Temple at the Lord’s birthplace.
“There is no opposition from anybody for the construction of Mosques or Churches in the country. Then why there should be opposition for the construction of Rama Mandir in Ayodhya? Temples are the national heritage and it should be constructed in order to promote harmony among the people,” he said.
He also informed that one who embraces Hinduism should accept Karmayoga, Mantra yoga and Bhakti yoga among others. The age-old practices like Yoga, meditation and Ayurvedic has got universal acceptance. The Hindu religion not only asks its followers to follow the rich rituals, customs and traditions of its own religion but also asks to respect the values of the other religion. It is the speciality of the Hindu religion, he said.
