Mangaluru: As the scheduled date for religious speaker Dr Zakir Naik’s visit to Mangaluru is fast approaching, Hindu Janajaagruti Samiti has cautioned that the district administration and the police department will be directly responsible if a communal unrest is erupted.
The Samiti on Tuesday December 22, held a protest near the DC office opposing Dr Naik’s visit citing that he is a traitor and has links with terror outfits.
State Co-ordinator of HJS Guruprasad, said that Dr Naik is learnt to be associated with terror outfits such as Indian Mujahideen and Lashkar-e-Toiba who was involved in Mumbai serial bomb blasts. Inviting such a person to deliver talk here is highly condemnable.
Targeting Dakshina Kannada District In-charge Minister Ramanath Rai, Guruprasad said that the government is responsible for all the communal tensions in the district adding the government primarily needs to be replaced.
He said that a memorandum has been submitted against granting permission to the proposed programme to the DC, ACP and the district administration.
State Spokesperson Dharmendra opined that Minister Ramanath Rai should change his name to Rehmatullah Rai as he is always inclined towards the Muslims. He alleged that Deputy Commissioner AB Ibrahim is also biased and takes stand in favour of Muslims.
Regarding Dr Naik’s visit, he said when approached, the district administration said that the state government recommended the programme and the state government said otherwise. He threatened that in case Dr Naik visits the city, HJS would convene a larger programme where leaders such as Dr Praveen Togadia and Pramod Muthalik would deliver speeches adding the government will solely be responsible for mishaps that erupt thereafter.
