Mangaluru: Former Minister Zameer Ahmed has questioned the Chief Minister as to how he could declare the two victims of Mangaluru police firing as accused even before a probe could take off into the case.
Addressing the reporters in the city on Friday, Ahmed said that the police should have not opened fire at the protesters and also questioned the relevance of having a police force that cannot control a mob of 300.
“The two who died in police firing are still accused. They have not been proven guilty. We do not want a CID probe into the case. We want a retired judge to conduct the investigations into the case,” he said lambasting at the state government for first announcing a compensation and then putting it on hold.
“Compensation holds no meaning. The lives lost are lost forever and no compensation can bring them back,” said Ahmed adding that the family of both the victims have not asked for any compensation, instead they have been wanting justice.
